Nathalie Himpel studied Scenography and Costume Design (B.A.) under Prof. Heide Kastler and Maren Christensen at the Hanover University of Design and Media, and Costume Design (M.A.) under Prof. Reinhard von der Thannen at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences.
She also studied French and Educational Sciences and is currently completing further training in Nonviolent Communication.
Since 2018, she has designed stage and costume designs for theaters such as the Magdeburg Theater, the Osnabrück Theater, the Aachen Theater, the Cologne Theater, the Ballhaus Ost Theater, the Vorpommern Theater, the NOF Fribourg (CH), as well as for the independent Swiss theater scene.
Her work "Die Kontrakte des Kaufmanns," directed by Jakob Arnold, was nominated for the Körber Studio Young Directors' Young Talent Award in 2018. For her stage and costume design for "Linus in der Stufenwelt" at the Theater Osnabrück, directed by Selina Girschweiler, she received the award for Best Stage Design at the "Hart am Wind" Festival in 2020. Together with the Quillo Ensemble and the Quillo Workshop project "Zukunftstöne" (Future Sounds), she was awarded the OPUS KLASSIK Prize in 2025 in the category of Young Talent Development (Children and Youth Work).
Since November 2025, she has held the artistic and pedagogical leadership of the Musiktheater 360° project at Musikkultur Rheinsberg gGmbH, which includes the takeover and continuation of the Quillo workshop.
She has a long-standing collaboration with directors Tamara Heimbrock and Selina Girschweiler, with whom she continually realizes productions in Germany and abroad.
